Being blessed with a FT position right when lockdown started actually allowed a smoother transition from a student to the full-time lifestyle. Less the commute to-and-fro or morning coffee spends!

I work in graphics, photography and IT support, and with my team communicating online it felt more flexible, encouraged me to ‘work smarter’ not harder, and taught me to prioritise and self-manage my time better. But also struggles to stay focused and learning when to stop work! I have placed a small curtain to divide workspace from home space to create physical boundaries. Working as a designer is quite fast-paced, so making wfh comfortable and in familiar homely surroundings has helped ease the pressure of deadlines. More time was given towards my side-hustles without feeling too ‘worn out’ after work.

Having a laugh with mum and playing with my guinea pigs during lunch break was good for mental health as well! But not seeing friends and colleagues face to face occasionally felt lonely because in the end, we are community-orientated beings! I understand those with toddlers and small children at home will face more challenges, but in my case there came more benefits wfh!

Hopefully after this passes businesses will be more open minded on flexible work conditions, mental and physical health and that people will start getting their jobs back!
